Enfin!
The last of the public engagements, upon which I signed the opinion, have filed. The management teams charged with certifying this, compliance with that, even implementing this, and converging that, have succeeded. Yes, all of these noisome reporting standards appear to have appropriately taken root.
I have made the rounds of the audit committees, presented that which was needed, excluded that which was not.
My plans for respite, at a lodge overlooking the river Romanche, have been commandeered. Not cancelled, for I landed in Grenoble this morning, just… well… As I rode from Vizille, I received a message and was presented with one of the most daunting tasks ever bestowed.
My dear friend, Eduardo Wessenbeitzel, the well-known importer of exotic woods and stone, has been in a protracted legally binding debate with his wife, Eugenia. Apparently, the judge has assigned me as arbiter in the matter. What is this grave matter that has troubled my spirit? What could this circumstance be that will not allow me to wander from my Armagnac nor writing table?
I have been tasked with the burden of naming their firstborn son…
