Early today, the breadth and girth of my schedule, brimming with persons wanting my time and lacking persons of whose time I fancy, looked into my visage, and I imagined registering a discordant sneer. So I acted as any good man would act, I took the page upon which said schedule was printed, wadded it into my pocket, shouldered a thermos of coffee, and crisscrossed the grounds with my dogs.
Finally, the cool morning submitted a proper aim… and, after delivering an invigorating throttling to one of my dogs (for pursuing a swan), I invited a highly recommended consultant to the estate. A Frenchman with a fascinating vision. Simon Mégane recently developed an approach to tackle the liquidity pressures smothering the lending institutions with whom I pander and peddle. A few calls, an invitation to dinner, a promised tour of the cave handed down from my father, was all it took. So after a late lunch and a small Fernet for the constitution, I welcomed M. Mégane into the home built for my ancestors and maintained by the end of the line.
Sharing audience, and both gaining from the others confidant perspective, we moved into my study for an informal setting and a settling Laberdolive. It was my most certain after dinner bottle to impress a Gaul. Yet Simon only moved to heft the works amassed upon the shelves in my bureau. As if dispersing an imaginary polish upon the leather bound pages, Simon gingerly massaged a first edition Zadig, by his countryman, Voltaire. He then looked up, shot his gaze to the chairs near the fireplace and asked simply, “Isn’t this where Bertram Sixt shared the first responses to the CAQs audit committee questionnaire?”
Concealing my disbelief, and after drawing a deep breath,”Only in the strictest of confidences Simon,” I did respond.
Why must I leap into the record of this visit, you self suppose,… it is owing to the fact that I deem it necessary to adequately describe the setting upon which Bertram Sixt shared the first recorded results of the Annual Auditor Assessment… more to follow…
